Almost every houseplant I have lost, I have lost to generosity. Roots need dry intervals; a pot that never dries out never lets them breathe.

Drought is a signal a plant knows how to read. Constant wet is one it cannot.

How to wait well

Lift the pot. Learn its dry weight and its wet weight. Weight tells you more than the surface of the soil ever will, and it takes a fortnight to learn.
