Peace Lily
Spathiphyllum
Family · Araceae
The Peace Lily was one of those plants that although I cant remember when it was added, it feels like it was always there. They have always been a relatedly neutral and visually appealing plant, and are great for building confidence.

Care & Environment
Famous for its glossy, arching foliage and striking white spathes, the Peace Lily is an exceptionally communicative plant. Native to the damp, tropical understories of Central and South America, it thrives in soft light and high moisture. Indoors, it acts as a reliable barometer for the environment—dramatically flagging its leaves when thirsty and recovering rapidly with a thorough soak, making its water requirements impossible to miss.
Watering Routine
Keep the substrate consistently moist, but never waterlogged. Check the top 2cm of soil regularly—water thoroughly as soon as the surface feels dry or when the petioles begin to lose tension and droop slightly. Sensitive to cold tap water and harsh chemicals; using room-temperature or harvested rainwater helps prevent brown, crisping leaf tips.
Soil Blend Recipe
2 parts peat-free potting compost, 1 part perlite, and 1 part fine orchid bark or coco coir. Rich, sponge-like, and moisture-retentive while remaining porous enough to allow air flow around the root system.
Light & Micro-Location Details
Thrives in medium, diffused light to gentle partial shade. Keep out of harsh, direct midday sun, which quickly scorches the deep green foliage. While it can survive in lower-light spots, steady indirect light is required to encourage regular flowering.
Dimensions & Potting Specs
Forms a dense, clumping mound around 40cm–70cm tall. Prefers a snug container that holds moisture evenly without leaving large volumes of unrooted, soggy soil at the bottom.
